Computer Science is a growing, dynamic, and exciting field. It has many branches covering everything from the engineering aspects of the hardware through the design, implementation, and testing stages of programming, all the way to their combined applications in the solution of a problem.

In fact, computer science is about problem solving. The traits of a good computer scientist include:

• a strong desire to find well-designed solutions, either customized or off-the-shelf
• the aptitude to apply a critical and logical thinking process to assess a solution
• the ability to apply abstractions
• strong oral and written communication skills
• the ability to recognize variants of similar problems and to apply known solutions effectively
